Odisha Mission School
St. Joseph of Annecy (India) Education Society is a Registered Society, founded and established with the sole aim of imparting quality education to children regardless of caste, class, language, creed and place of birth. St. Joseph’s schools are one among the best schools serving the society, especially the poor and people on the periphery. Our presence is vibrant in different states of India especially in Orissa, Andra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra and North Eastern States of India.
The district of Kandhamal, Odisha is in the world map with the outburst of a violence that descended upon the Christian community in the year 2007 and 2008. Our community in Sankarakhol which is located in the remote villages of Khandamal district also experienced the ripples of that cruelty and unsighted ferocity.
Our dreams of bringing up that poor village was shattered, lives of the sisters were under threat, our investments in the mission was all devastated. People whom we served with unspeakable love looted our house and ruined our household but not our spirit. Heartbroken but trusting in the master whose footsteps we follow stayed away from Kandhamal till 2011. Prayer and time has healed our wounds. Over the years we have realized with conviction that love and goodness can win over the evil.

The poverty, illiteracy, inadequate nutrition, unhealthy environment and unhygienic practices creates an alarming situation in Kandhamal district. Good education can dispel darkness of the soul and spill lights into the lives of the people there. We are back to the needy people to emancipate them from such a catastrophe. After having conducted a survey in the remote village of Sankarakhol, taking into consideration all the factors and the suggestions from the people and local authorities we have opened “St. Joseph’s English Medium School, Sankarakhol”(Odisha Mission School). This institution will bring about vast changes in the attitudes of the people and in the society. It will serve as a bridge to bring harmony and solidarity among people. It is located in a feasible site where students from many villages can have access to our school. We also have a hostel for girls and boys to accommodate children from remote far away villages. Our school construction is in progress. We will greatly appreciate and value your generosity to reach out to the least and the lost in the society. Deficiency of finance is a major difficulty that we are facing now. We have at present Seventy-five students from LKG to Class III. They are all from economically backward families but we have identified their potentials and capabilities to live a far better lives. These children here stand in need of your hand to live a dignified life in the society.
