Youth and Women Empowerment

Empower a woman and empower the nation….

St. Joseph Seva Sadan Social work center works for the poor and marginalized women and children of Kandhamal.  The mission began in 2011 after the Khandhamal violence when women and children were abandoned and had to fend for their life and found no means even to have two meals a day. With the help of Fr. Richard Vaz SVD and his friends from USA helped the sisters to work with women.  Began with three SHGs, over the years it grew up and started to support 200 women in 13 villages.  Every group of women has started their own small scale business which earns them their livelihood and supports the education of their children.

St. Joseph Seva Sdan   also works for the education of the Children….building their future thus building the nation.  It runs two projects for their right to education. In seven villages the children have formed Children’s Club, having its own leaders, supported by the women’s SHGs.  Children save regularly a stipulated amount of money and deposit in the Bank.  The money is distributed to the children once they complete their primary education as a support for their higher education or for emergency medical aid of the group members. The children are supported for their education by St. Joseph Seva Sadn through Mothers Care Project. Thus we support around 100 children for their education.
