Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news” (Romans 10:15-17). The Sisters of St. Joseph are committed to the Church’s mission of evangelization and catechesis. In all our communities, besides the education, health and developmental works, they are actively involved in the work of evangelization. The sisters teach and catechize children, the youth and adults in schools and in parishes. They prepare them for the reception of the Holy Mysteries (sacraments) of Reconciliation and Solemn Holy Communion.

The sisters take utmost care of the young children in the village giving them the taste of prayer, and molding them in faith. During summer vacation our sisters dedicate their service in preparing the children for first Holy Communion and Confirmation. They also give classes on health, nutrition, hygiene and community living and have recreation sessions.

During the formation period, the pre- novices, novices and the junior sisters are exposed to live in the villages and become acquainted with the life challenges and struggles of the people. This living experience with the people lifts up their lives to become zealous missionary Sisters.

They provide spiritual nourishment through prayer service, Bible sharing, conducting the Rosary etc. The sisters show special concern to the elderly, sick and the dying by visiting the families of such people and listening to them. They assist the priest in administering the sacrament meaningfully and joyfully to the people.

Wherever the sisters are, they take care of the parishes within their limit. The feast days are made extraordinary by their creative skills in decorating the altar; arranging the flowers, preparing the liturgy and conducting the choir.
